The Practice employs Locum Doctors on a sessional basis if required when one or more of the above Doctors are absent.
Practice Nursing Team

The Practice Nursing Team provides advice on all aspects of health and illness, with a focus on preventative health care. Appointments may be made to see members of the Team for Asthma, Diabetes, Family Planning advice, Cervical Smears, New Patient Registration, Travel advice, Smoking Cessation, Blood Pressure monitoring and routine blood tests.
Minor Illness Services
The Practice Nurses are qualified to diagnose and assess health problems, recommend treatments and prescribe medications. They can provide you with information and advice and, if necessary, refer you to a Doctor or other health care professional. They may be able to help you with such conditions as coughs and colds, “flu-like” illness, sore throats, “tummy bugs”, urinary tract infections, vaginal discharge, head lice, scabies, chest infections, skin conditions, sore eyes, sore ears and other minor illness.
Members of the Practice Nursing Team also provide emergency contraception.

The Practice Manager is responsible for the day to day operation of the Practice including the management of Receptionists, other Support and Nursing Staff.

Treatment Room Nurses:
Treatment Room Nurses are responsible for dressings, removal of stitches, injections, BP monitoring, dietary advice and cardiograms. They also take cervical smears, see patients with urinary tract infections and undertake ear syringing by appointment only on patients who have initially been assessed by the GP. Injuries that occur on the same day, eg burns, cuts and eye injuries may be seen.
The District Nurses are responsible for maintaining individuals in their own homes, maximising their ability to self-care, teaching and educating both patients and Carers.

Health Visitors are trained Nurses with additional training/experience in child, family and community health. They carry out developmental screening and immunisations and work as part of a team, which includes other health colleagues as well as social work, education and the voluntary sector. Their aim is to provide a holistic service to families; primarily the “under-5s”.

The Midwives are involved in the care of all women throughout their pregnancy. The Midwives hold antenatal booking and return appointment clinics.
